What we do
The I&I Foundation brings together outstanding performers and composers to create new music that might otherwise never be written. Every commission we support is fully funded, giving composers the freedom to write without financial pressure and giving audiences around the world the chance to hear genuinely new work.
Micro-commissioning
At the heart of our activity is a micro-commissioning model: short, fully funded works written for the performers who champion them. By keeping each commission focused we are able to support a large and diverse range of composers every season, and to move quickly from the first idea to the first performance.

Supporting composers
We work with composers at every stage of their careers — from emerging voices writing their first professionally performed pieces to established figures exploring new directions. Alongside the commission fee we help connect composers with the performers, ensembles and festivals who bring their music to life.

Reaching audiences
New music thrives when it is heard. We partner with festivals, ensembles and venues to present world and first premieres, and we document performances so that the works we commission continue to live beyond their opening night.
